The Hope For Us Network teamed up with the city of Mt. Prospect, IL, to create a public outreach program to normalize and destigmatize mental health in the community.
The Human Services team titled it Mental Health Matters and gathered direct community resources for therapy and treatment as well as organizations that serve as community connections, outlets, and platforms for self-expression. The goal is to take the mental health conversation out of the silo of just thinking about suicide prevention and mental health as a hotline and therapy. Instead, think of mental health as it truly is: a personal and physical health topic.
On June 14th, the Human Services Department, a fantastic coalition of community organizations, agencies, and the Network, kicked off the 4th Annual Mental Health Matters community event.Â
The event featured a resource fair, kid’s activities, speaker presentations, wellness demonstrations, and a cash raffle. Proceeds benefit Mount Prospect residents through the Human Services Department Behavioral Health Subsidy Program.
The Keynote speaker was the Network's ally in prevention, Ryan Shannon!
